Daybreak Academy strives to utilize a “whole child” approach for all students. The teachers, administrators, and support staff work together to promote the intellectual, social, behavioral, and emotional growth of every precious child under our care. Our whole child curriculum revolves around the belief that it’s not what you do, but how you do it that truly matters. That is why our classes are uniquely hands-on.

The students do not just learn about science. They also experience it through projects and practical activities. Instead of just learning about music in class, our students deeply experience it through individual piano lessons, choir practices, and recitals. We believe that by making classes fun and interactive for young students, they will embrace the learning process. This positive mentality sets them up for future academic success because they will be highly motivated to excel in school and absorb as much knowledge as they can.

A preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. Our goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of each child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.

Responsibilities for Child Care Teacher

• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflicts using healthy, age appropriate methods
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Track children’s progress and report to parents
• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
• Collaborate with other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Qualifications for Child Care Teacher

Required:

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience or early childhood education certification
• Ability to develop lesson plans that meet educational standards
• Familiarity with classroom management skills
• Submit to a criminal background check upon hire
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Ability to act as mediator between children
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
• Ability to obtain certification in child CPR and food handler's permit
• Attendance of ongoing staff meetings and events

Preferred:

• Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities, and lift up to 50 pounds
• At least three years’ prior experience in preschool classroom
• Bachelor's degree

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
