Child Protection Team Pediatrician/Advanced Practice Nurse, Boston Medical Center
Job description
The Department of Pediatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) and Boston Medical Center (BMC) seek a Pediatrician or Advanced Practice Nurse to join the BMC Child Protection Team. The Child Protection Team covers all patients at BMC and provides consultation for affiliated community health centers. We employ a co-leadership model with parity between physician and social work members. Our multidisciplinary team strives to address child maltreatment using a diversity-, trauma-, and justice-informed approach. We encourage applicants with a passion for understanding the ways in which systems of oppression impact us, our patients, and our work.
Applicants should have clinical expertise serving patients and families impacted by trauma, family disruption, and carceral systems; experience advocating for systems-based change is desired. Our multidisciplinary, collaborative approach seeks to encourage thoughtful and deliberative decision-making that centers patient and family well-being.
Provide in-person inpatient, emergency department, and outpatient consultation in all clinical areas at Boston Medical Center and evaluate patients in BMC Pediatrics Foster Care Clinic. Provide phone consultation to providers from designated community health centers. Participate in on-call rotation, availability both by phone and for in-person consultation. Opportunities to teach Boston University School of Medicine students, residents in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics, and residents in other programs at Boston Medical Center.
Candidates with BC/BE in Child Abuse Pediatrics are preferred. Physician candidates (MD/DO) must be BC/BE in Pediatrics and must have or be eligible for a Massachusetts medical license. Highly qualified Advanced Practice Nurses will be considered. Preference for candidates whose approach to child maltreatment is consonant with the framework outlined above. For those interested, clinical opportunities in general pediatrics may also be available.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor level in the Clinical series will be determined based on the background and qualifications.
