POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Youth and Teen Program Coordinator and Leads, the Child Watch/Adventure Kids Assistant will supervise and care for children ages infants through 12 years old. They will actively engage and interact with all children in developmentally appropriate levels to ensure they are providing a quality experience to the children and parents. This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations.
- Helps lead and implement activities within the established guidelines.
- Acquaints children with rules, activities, schedule, and area.
- Takes responsibility for the leadership, guidance and safety/welfare of each child in attendance. Supervises the children, areas, and all activities.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Maintains positive relations with children, parent, co-workers and volunteers, while maintaining confidentiality of information related to parents and children.
- Helps maintain program site and equipment.
- Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
- Complies with our Child Protection Policy to create a safe and nurturing environment.
- Provides support and assistance for youth programs as needed, including Parents Night Out and Family Events.
- Keeps supplies organized, maintains areas and cares for equipment. Takes responsibility for cleaning areas.
- Helps to maintain proper records and department files.
- Assist in promoting and marketing programs and services to engage members and guests.
- Report any problems, issues, or departmental concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Provide for a strong professional image in regards to dress, attitude, punctuality, communication, and demeanor.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer some education and/or experience in child development, child and family studies or related field.
Must be at least 17 years of age.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date and Child Abuse Prevention training along with other safety trainings assigned within 10 days of hire date.
Must be committed to and supportive of the Y mission with an emphasis on support and empathy to health seekers.
Must be detail oriented, good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi task.
Must have exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.
Must have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from various social and economic segments of the community.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

- Must be able to see, hear and speak.
