The Corporate Claims Division seeks a Claims Manager/Supervisor to join the Reinsurance Claims department located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reinsurance Claims is a shared service that facilitates reinsurance handling of claims for more than 20 divisions within the Property & Casualty organization. This position is located in Great American’s corporate offices in downtown Cincinnati, which offers hybrid work from home flexibility. For individuals not in the Cincinnati metro area, full-time work from home may be considered.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates work activities within the reinsurance claims department.
  • Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Ensures new members of the team receive proper training.
  • Evaluates applicable reinsurance coverage(s) for claims.
  • Advises reporting staff on reinsurance claim files and handling of complex reinsurance.
  • Synthesizes and conveys moderately complex claim information (coverage decisions, claim outcomes, etc.) to stakeholders (internal business units, company leadership, reinsurers, brokers).
  • Communicates effectively with other areas of the company (accounting, audit, actuarial, IT, etc.)
  • Facilitates claim reviews with brokers and reinsurance partners.
  • Ensures reinsurance claim transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participates in reinsurance projects as needed.
  • Assists with reinsurance collections as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 3 to 8 years of related claim handling or reinsurance experience, 1-5 years supervisory experience preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to cross train in and understand multiple lines of business.
  • Professional writing and oral communication skills.
  • Eager to explore and master new subject matter.
  • Aptitude for information technology. Must easily adapt to company systems.
  • Experience in the following claim and reinsurance systems is a plus: Universal Reinsurance/ReinsurancePro, Guidewire ClaimCenter, Pacer Claims, Cognos, Tableau.

The job grade will be commensurate with the years of experience and skill level of the candidate hired for the position.
