GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

To ensure safe climbing and belaying at the Climbing Wall at Lynches River County Park, Coward, SC.

Responsible for assisting the Recreation Supervisor with the day to day operation of the Climbing Wall.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Monitor participants climbing activity to ensure safety policies are being adhered to, teach and model appropriate safety practices and techniques to customers.

Provide a welcoming and customer service-oriented environment for staff and participants

Provide participants with information about climbing wall programs and routes.

Follow all established opening, on-shift and closing policies and procedures.

Assist individuals with climbing equipment and offer users advice on how to improve their climbing skills and techniques.

Conduct daily inspections of the climbing wall, surrounding area and equipment; maintain climbing equipment and wall.

Assist with hosting group climbing events.

Setting up and taking down climbing wall ropes and anchor systems in the correct manner; setting roped and boulder climbing routes.

Assist with auto-belay features as necessary; facilitate instructional belay/climbing classes.

Supervise non-climbers to ensure their safety around the climbing wall.

Help maintain a clean and safe environment within the climbing wall area and storage room.

Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must be a minimum of 16 years of age

Climbing and belaying experience preferred

Awareness of safety concerns and risk management involved with climbing

Good customer service and communication skills

Be current in, or ability to pass upon hire, CPR/AED/First Aid certification course

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $8.50 - $8.90 per hour
