POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Informaticist I/II position supports the clinical staff in the use and adoption of electronic medical record applications and systems. As a Clinical Informaticist I/II, the position works collaboratively with all clinical staff to leverage technology to increase efficiency and improve patient outcomes within Maniilaq Health Services (MHS). This position must have excellent customer service skills, be able to work alternative schedules in order to support staff, and be comfortable with computers and computer applications. Reports directly to the Director of Health Information Systems.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Drive the adoption and efficient use of electronic health record applications and systems through

training and coaching of medical, nursing, pharmacy and other clinical and non-clinical staff within

the patient care setting.

2. Develop and maintain training content.

3. Remote travel to field sites for training, troubleshooting, and process enhancement.

4. Collaborate with MHS Team to implement, support and maintain electronic health record applications

and systems.

5. Enhance and develop new EHR functionality and solutions in support of clinical processes and

procedures.

6. Provide EHR subject matter expertise and innovation in support of medical staff and improved patient

outcomes.

7. Assists with coordination for change management and communication related to EHR, IT projects and

initiatives.

8. Assists in the identification of changes in workflow process that will need to be made with system

changes or ongoing process improvement.

9. Software and workflow related trouble-shooting with collaboration with technical personnel as

needed.

10. May be required to participate in an on-call rotation for night and weekend support of MHS clinical

applications.



Job Qualifications:


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Clinical Informaticist I: Training in Clinical Informatics preferred. An Associate’s degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, or other clinical field. Two (2) years’ experience in clinical informatics support in a healthcare industry. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.


According to the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain specific technical certifications. May require travel to remote locations on an irregular basis. May be required to work alternative work schedules. May be called to work off-shift in emergency situations.


Clinical Informaticist II: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, or other clinical field. Three (3) additional years of experience in clinical informatics support in a healthcare industry. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.


The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to sit for long periods of time with some standing and lifting. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Maniilaq Association is not a latex free environment, therefore some latex exposure can be expected.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge of clinical and healthcare related software applications (Specific Cerner EHR solution knowledge and experience preferred).

Knowledge of patient care activities, hospital and outpatient environments and how the services and functions interact.

Knowledge of new trends in clinical practice & information systems, & applying that knowledge.
