About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Communications Sr. Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide support to the Training and Workforce Development Branch (TWDB) at the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This role will support TWDB staff in creating a new communication channel to inform and educate point-of-care testers and non-traditional testers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Scientific SMEs activities.
- Conduct a target audience analysis to characterize non-traditional testers into discrete segments to guide development of a new community of practice.
- Based on target audience needs and user feedback, recommend and support implementation of enhancements to OneLab REACH – DLS’s learning management system (LMS) for clinical laboratory professionals.
- Identify public- and private-sector partners that serve point-of-care/non-traditional testers or sites.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize the needs of non-traditional testers.
- Develop and implement promotion, outreach, and engagement strategies for a non-traditional testing community of practice.
- Draft and implement a peer-to-peer communication strategy.
- Develop and implement tailored laboratory communication, education, and training strategies and materials for non-traditional testers, the laboratory workforce, and other relevant target audiences as specified by DLS.
- Participate in revision and expansion of standard operating procedures to align with OneLab REACH updates.
- Support the creation and updating of OneLab REACH content on webpages.
- Adhere to all CDC guidelines, standards, and regulations including those for branding, web, technology, accessibility, and device/browser compatibility.
Requirements: Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior clinical laboratory role with an education, communication, or training component.
- Experience building customer relations and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Experience in clinical data analysis.
- Experience in outreach detailed execution, medical writing, patient counseling, medication therapy management, project management, and ICH/GCP guidelines.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance.
- Experience overseeing quality and contributing to the design of enterprise-wide learning programs preferred.
- Experience working across teams and segments to deliver solutions to meet organization-wide needs.
- Previous experience working at CDC preferred.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders and external partners.
- Experience working with subject matter experts.
- Skill in managing, planning, organizing, and directing complex processes.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to efficiently manage and respond to multiple requests and priorities.
- Ability to think critically, analyze situations and data, and solve problems.
- Ability to obtain government clearance.
Education and Training
- Master of Science in Molecular Biology, Nuclear Medicine, Management & Health Care or related Life Sciences required. Ph.D. highly desired.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Master of Business Administration preferred.
- Certifications such as Medical Technologist (MT), Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS), or similar preferred.
- Familiarity with Healthcare Information & Management System Society, Inc. (HIMSS) and/or Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds regularly.
