About This Role:*

This position is responsible for managing, organizing, and evaluating the functions including but not limited to core laboratory technical and operations, supervisory review laboratory information/other systems, Customer Service safety Inventory/finances and or other related tasks.*

Activities:*

  • Supervise testing personnel monitors and ensures that acceptable performance specifications are maintained including quality control review scheduled instrument/equipment maintenance and other quality assurance activities as assigned
  • Ensures test system performance by initiating preventive and/or remedial actions when test procedures deviate from laboratory's established performance specifications. In the event of non-conformances ensures that test results are not reported until corrective action has been taken and test is performing according to laboratory established performance specifications
  • Communicates bringing problems and nonconformities to the attention of laboratory management
  • Manage personnel and allocation of assets for effective laboratory operations
  • Verify that personnel are trained and deemed proficient prior to performing testing on patient specimens independently
  • Ensures that staff have competency assessments and continuing education as needed and action is taken when personnel do not perform as expected on competency assessments
  • May delegate responsibilities such as quality control review/quality assurance activities to other competent/trained supervisor or qualified technical staff
  • Does bench work as needed and has a strong background in hematology and chemistry, follows laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of tests
  • Follows standard precautions laboratory safety/infection control protocols using appropriate PPE decontaminate bench surfaces and or other equipment and does proper documentation as appropriate
  • Participates in system maintenance validation/performance verification upgrades testing
  • Manages operations monitors and compiles operating expenses and a maintain records to reflect supervisory review
  • Complies with laboratory SOP(s) patient safety/privacy and HIPAA rule maintains environment of care standards work on laboratory goals to prioritize safety/care of patients and respond to inquiries courteously accurately and in a timely manner
  • Manages proficiency testing and ensures samples are treated like patients and quality controls are introduced in routine workflow rotated amongst staff and data is properly reviewed/entered submitted and evaluation report monitored
  • Promote safe cooperative and professional health care environment for optimum patient care best laboratory practices adheres to policies procedures rules/regulations and demonstrates standards of performance and behaviors consistent
  • Coordinates department staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate shift and skill coverage and maintains laboratory and compliance records
  • Ensures adequate operating supplies appropriate inventory management specimen handling and management including all pre-analytical processing recording and tracking of specimens
  • Ensures Shift to shift communication to the staff and supervisors about pending tasks, ongoing compliance and tasks that needs to be accomplished in a timely manner to avoid safety and patient care issues for efficient laboratory operations

Education: Bachelor's degree in a science related field
Experience: 6 years of experience
Licenses: Clinical Laboratory Technologist
Skills:
Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills
Acquire knowledge about contents of policies and procedures relevant to the scope of laboratory testing activities
Must know Core laboratory supervisory functions
