HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II to support the DoD-VA Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE) Research and Surveillance (R&S) Division located at the Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to EACE. The incumbent collects baseline and follow up data from subjects.The study is called Pre-neuromusculoskeletal injury Risk factor Evaluation and Post-neuromusculoskeletal injury Assessment for Return-to-duty/activity Enhancement, or "PREPARE". The purpose of the study is to develop clinical assessments that identify the specific factors that increase the risk of musculoskeletal injuries in Service members.
The EACE R&S Division conducts research studies aimed at improving the function and quality of life for individuals with extremity injuries. The EACE-WAMC/FB Clinical Research Assistant II serves under the supervision of the local EACE-WAMC/FB leadership, who assign areas of responsibility and set defined program objectives, for which the incumbent assumes responsibility for pursuing to completion. The incumbent serves as a point of contact for all administrative activities associated with the EACE-WAMC/FB research program. The position requires practical knowledge of research methods along with knowledge of medical terminology, and research experience. The incumbent is responsible for providing administrative project oversight in order to maximize the effective use of project resources. Specific areas include: overall research project coordination, study regulatory compliance, participant recruitment and retention, and data collection.

Responsibilities
  • Performs data collection, recruits and screens subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. Checks for validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements and clinical relevance.
  • Establishes and maintains database files and progress reports for studies, projects and programs. May perform data analysis and interpretation.
  • Performs scientific literature searches, identification and retrieval.
  • Performs administrative duties such as: assisting in developing and submitting grants, papers and abstracts, manuscripts and presenting studies, developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments; participates in field visits; responds to requests and questions from individuals, institutions, government agencies and funding agencies and participates in the design of research studies.
  • Assists with the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations including editing and formatting documents. Distributes manuscripts and reports to all scientific collaborators as required.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
  • Skill in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software and/or spreadsheets and database software applications.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Physical Capabilities
  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required.
