In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, is responsible for administering diagnostic and treatment programs designed to comprehensively evaluate and treat injured and disabled patients to restore maximum communicative function. Responsibilities include:

• Accurately identifies patient's functional deficits/dysfunction through review of the medical record, through observation of the patient, through information obtained from the patient/family, and through assessment of expressive/receptive language, motor speech, cognitive/linguistic hearing, voice and swallowing and other speech therapy assessment techniques
• Identifies and reports patient abuse and neglect i.e.: physical assault, domestic abuse and neglect of elders and children.
• Conducts annual performance reviews as assigned by Therapy Manager/Supervisor and works to assist other speech therapists in improving job performance
• Communicates regularly with other members of the healthcare team regarding goals, progress and rehab potential. Works as a collaborative member of the treatment team.

• Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience with evidence of extensive training in a given specialty area
• Specialty areas may include but not limited to:
• Neuro-rehabilitation
• Brain injury
• Pediatrics
• Swallowing
• Current California State license in Speech Therapy (LIC SLP)
• Current AHA CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)

• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians, hospital departments and the general public.
• Demonstrates knowledge of teaching and leadership skills including a proficiency for conceptual thinking, motivating, teaching principles and problem solving.
• Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of the principles, standard practices, procedures and equipment utilized in the department.
• Ability and willingness to actively participate in departmental and hospital programs.
• Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to achieve results through good organizational skills and prioritization of work.
• Knowledge and understanding of pertinent standards and regulations including DHS and The Joint Commission.
• Ability to gather, comprehend and interpret data for Quality Improvement activities.
• Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team oriented environment.
• Ability to be mentor/coach student interns or oversee their clinical experience.
• Ability to be flexible with caseload within any given day, as needed for the benefit of the department.
• Promotes S.T. services in the community as appropriate.
