Clinical Supervisor and Mental Health Consultant (FT)
Job description
- Direct the implementation of mental health programming in early childhood home-based and center-based programs.
- Provide clinical observations of classrooms and individual children in the childcare program,
- Provide training and ongoing reflective mental health consultation to center-based and home-based educators, promoting relational, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Direct graduate-level intern program and provide individual and group reflective clinical supervision to intern therapists providing play therapy services to children in early childhood and after-school programs (ages 3-18).
- Collaborate with the assistant program director, site director, education coordinator, family services manager, and disabilities services coordinator to assess and address the mental health needs of the program
- Create Community Partnership Agreements through identifying community assets and resources that meet the needs of our serving population.
- Collaborate with disabilities services coordinator regarding children referred for disabilities services.
- Co-lead and support the implementation of initiatives to address staff mental health and wellness.
- Develop and lead parent community workshops and parent support groups, sharing information about child development and mental health.
- Provide therapeutic intervention and support to children in classrooms when appropriate.
- Provide clinical services to children and parents in Erie House’s childcare and after-school program upon request or referral.
Ensure compliance with Head Start/Early Head Start and Chicago Early Learning Standards for mental health programming:
- Assist with the ongoing development and evaluation of clinical services.
- Responsible for data collection, program evaluation and timely reporting for clinical services to funders.
- Maintain notes, reports, and records of treatment plans on internal and external database systems as required by funders.
- Participate in funder training and reviews.
- Attends monthly department, all staff, funder and other required meetings.
- Attend professional development applicable to the field and population being served on an ongoing basis.
Position Requirements:
- Doctoral or Master’s degree in Social Work required; LCSW.
- Five years of clinical experience and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience
- Early childhood experience is required.
- Infant and early childhood mental health consultation experience preferred.
- Experience of working in Head Start/Early Head start program is strongly preferred but not required.
- 40-hour Domestic Violence Training Certificate, or completion within the first year of employment.
- Completion of the Orientation to the Illinois Model of Infant and Early Childhood Consultation, or completion within the first year of employment.
- Knowledge in the areas of trauma-informed practice, early child development, domestic violence, community violence, child abuse, and mental health challenges
- Strong organizational and effective time management skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and appreciation of cultural issues and differences
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Flexibility and ability to work very occasional evenings as necessary for parent workshops
- Commitment to social justice and sensitivity to the assets and challenges of a diverse group of participants
- Offer of employment contingent on ability to complete all forms and meet all legal requirements set forth by the Department of Children and Family Services for this position including a Criminal Background Check, Fingerprinting, and a Child Abuse and Neglect Background Check.
