Job description
Responsibilities
Provides a combination of patient care duties and clerical/administrative duties in support of the Emergency Department. Answers telephone, answers inquiries, directs callers, and takes messages. Locates information and enters data into online system. May perform the pre-registration process. Gathers information, documents, charts, supplies, or other necessary materials. Greets guests, answers questions, and gives directions. Collects and distributes incoming and outgoing mail. Makes new and updates existing patient charts; ensures that charts have necessary forms for documentation, such as patient labels, progress notes, and physician order sheets. Coordinates transfer of charts to and from Health Information Management. Maintains log books. Calls physicians’ offices for information. Maintains an adequate supply level of forms, supplies, and downtime forms. Participates directly in patient care. Takes vital signs. Helps move patients. Answers calls from patients and provides drinks or ice. Assist with patient care within scope of practice. May coordinate work or projects in functional area.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Registered with N.C. as a CNA 1 or CNA 2. Associates degree and administrative/clerical training preferred.
