Clinical Veterinary Technician Supervisor

Join the NC State Veterinary Hospital in our Clinical department. If you have graduated from an accredited veterinary technology program, have supervisor experience, and a minimum of 5 years of specialty veterinary technician experience, we would like to discuss our Clinical Veterinary Technician Supervisor position with you.

Here are a few highlights of this position:

• Supervises approximately 30 veterinary technicians that function in the Randall B Terry Companion Animal Medical Center (TC).
• Ensures that all patients in the specialty service patient care areas will receive high-quality care by managing, recruiting, hiring, and evaluating all direct reports.
• Effectively plans, directs and manages day-to-day operations of areas of responsibility.
• Functions as a working technician for the departments, providing unique internal and external customer service, technical support, data collection, and patient care.
• Participates in human resources-related responsibilities, including but not limited to; recruitment and selection process; conducts performance management; ensures human resources policies and related information is shared with employees; resolution of disciplinary and grievance issues; monthly time sheets.
• Uses extensive knowledge of veterinary medicine to effectively plan, direct and manage day-to-day operations of areas of responsibility. Plans work operations and priorities daily or weekly to meet hospital objectives.
• Proficient in the usage of specialized equipment in all aspects relating to hospitalized patient care.
• Manages resources, including budget and personnel; establishes priorities in the use of resources including space, equipment and/o,r facilities.
• Evaluates and modifies protocols to ensure excellent patient care and client service. Ensures adherence to procedures and work standards; recommends changes. Responsible for general oversight of units. Financial responsibilities include the continuing education budget, staff salaries, supplies, and the fee structure for specialties to insure cost capture, industry equivalence, and supply cost.
• Works closely with other supervisors and lead technicians to develop standard operating procedures for patient care and promotes an atmosphere of continuous quality improvement.
• Promotes a positive work environment that fosters communication, trust, problem-solving, employee recognition, and quality improvement.
