Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is recruiting for Clinicians to fill permanent, temporary and limited service positions in the Division of Behavioral Health which includes services in children's mental health, adult mental health, and substance use disorders.

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Clinician making $26.33/hour to an estimated $38.00/hour.

Our Clinicians are used in several different settings and programs in the Department. The different organizational and geographical locations, roles and responsibilities are described in the following paragraphs.

Community Mental Health Programs: Clinicians typically receive mental health referrals and applications; conduct intake interviews; administer and interpret psychological instruments; conduct service assessments, assess for risk and safety issues per agency mandates and priority; counsel clients; coordinate with and initiate referrals to community partner agencies in accessing community-based services for clients; provide clinical consultation to agency staff, private service providers and other state and community partner agencies; testify in court; document all case activities and conduct designated exams and other forensic activities. Positions may specialize in services to children or adults.

There is strong emphasis on crisis services across the state. Clinicians will be required to have knowledge of brief resolution focused crisis intervention call response or mobile response which may require evening, night and weekend hours.

Parenting with Love and Limits (PLL) Program:
Clinicians follow an evidence-based therapeutic family treatment model that combines group therapy with family therapy modalities. Clinicians provide services at least 3-4 evenings per week and often in the family home. The PLL program is a therapeutic model with well-defined guidelines and ongoing supervision, with emphasis being placed on engaging families quickly and giving them tools and skills to create new structure within the family system to help create lasting change. Adherence to fidelity of the PLL model is required. Other duties include conducting Motivational Interviewing calls and meetings, administering research assessment instruments, coordinating and conducting family team meetings, and documenting data on the PLL Dashboard Database. Clinician positions for community mental health are located only in the following areas: Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, Kellogg, Lewiston, Moscow, Grangeville, Mountain Home, Boise, Twin Falls, Burley, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Salmon, Blackfoot, Pocatello, Preston, Caldwell, Nampa, Payette. Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.)
  • This position requires licensure in one of following: Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Pastoral Counselors (LPAS), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC), and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT).
