Summary/Objective
The purpose of this position is to assist the licensed nurse (RN or LPN/LVN) in providing safe and ethical care for clients – this is, administering prescribed drugs and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by state law.
Essential Functions
1. Verifies patient information by interviewing client; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs.
2. Dispense oral, inhalation and topical medications to patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
3. Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurse(s).
4. Assist nursing and admissions departments.
5. Assists the nurse in providing care to clients, which includes observation and reporting of client needs.
6. Document the administered medical in the client’s medical record.
7. Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
8. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
9. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
10. Follows all Briarwood Detox/Nova Recovery Center LLC policies and procedures to include but not limited to human resource, clinic, and administrative, HIPPA and compliance.
11. Serves and protects the facility by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) standard.
12. Coordinates with Nurse Practitioner and Director of Operations to keep all informed of current departmental activities, plans, and developments through both oral and written reports.
13. Attends monthly staff meetings and required trainings.
14. Maintains confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clients, staff, and any other information this position may be privy to.
15. Acts as a representative of Briarwood Detox and/or Nova Recovery Center at work and in the community by representing a favorable image of the center to all outside contacts with courteous and tactful behavior toward clients, visitors, and other staff.
16. Demonstrates ability to be a team player by offering solutions to problems identified and participating in the Quality Assurance program, when appointed or able.
17. Dresses in an appropriate manner according to the dress code.
18. Able to work well under pressure.
19. Responsible for being at work, on time, per the established schedule, as applicable.
20. Practices in compliance with the Code of Ethical Conduct within the employee handbook.
21. Completes required in-service training and continuing education within required timelines.
22. Complies with all applicable Nova Recovery Policies and Procedures.
23. All other duties and/or special projects as assigned by Management.
Work Environment
This job operates in a nursing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear. This position requires long periods of standing, periodic sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. This position requires lifting and/or moving items up to 10 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position and hours of work are scheduled by the Manager of Nursing. The facility is open 7 days a week/24 hours a day/365 days a year and your schedule may include working weekends and holidays.
Travel
This position may travel to other Briarwood locations in the State of Texas.
Required Education and Experience
Medication Aide certification, experience with a 12-step program preferred.
General Qualifications
Must have excellent customer service skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to work with other departments within the Nova Recovery LLC programs. Ability to be a self-starter with minimal supervision.
