Course Details:
A mandatory informational meeting for prospective students will be held Wednesday, October 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Strieby conference room.

Course Schedule:
The first day of class will be Tuesday, November 29, 2022, and the course will require lecture 2 days a week (4 hours a day) plus one 8-hour day of labs (hands on in class) each week for 5 weeks. There will then be clinicals 5 days a week for 2 weeks. If make up days are needed, they will take place the 3rd week, after the clinical weeks. The course will be a total of 7 weeks, and if make up days are needed, will run 8 weeks.

Position Summary:
Assists professional nursing personnel by performing simple treatment and related bedside patient care. Uses skill and knowledge in basic nursing procedures and techniques. The Certified Nurse’s Aide provides for patient personal care and comfort needs, and related non-professional services under the direction of the Registered Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse.

If you are interested in the scholarship that is being offered, the class fees would be paid in exchange for your commitment to complete the class and then work as a Full time CNA at Lake Health District for 12 months (2080 hours) in either our Long-Term Care Facility or our Acute Care/hospital. This will satisfy and repay the facility for the class fee. After successfully completing the NA certification class, you are eligible to work in our Long-Term Care facility only while your CNA certification is being processed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. You will be paid for the hours you work as a NA, non-certified, and also be gaining the experience needed to work as a CNA. After passing the State Board of Nursing Oregon test for a CNA certification, your wage will increase to the base wage of a CNA at Lake Health District, and you will be prepared to work in either our Long-Term Care or Acute Care/hospital.

• If you are interested in obtaining your Oregon CNA certification, but not interested in the scholarship or the commitment of working at our facility, you may still participate in the class and pay out of pocket, the tuition of $950.00.
