This role is an exciting opportunity to support the Professional Tools business. Ridgid Products is an Emerson manufacturing facility in Orange, VA, which proudly produces RIDGID brand drain cleaning machines, cables, and tubing cutters. We are seeking a hands-on, problem-solver with proven CNC programming experience, a strong mechanical aptitude, and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing machine shop practices to design, install, and improve manufacturing processes and equipment. AS A CNC TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL:
- Analyze equipment and workstation capacity, space requirements, workflow, and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency.
- Select and complete the necessary documentation for the purchase, design and construction, scheduling, installation, and start-up of capital equipment.
- Confer with suppliers to develop specifications and production plans for components, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, production costs, and capital investments for new or revised products and processes.
- Provide direct service to manufacturing departments for training, documentation of work instructions, maintenance of process routing files, changes to product drawings, analysis of equipment performance, and troubleshooting of production problems.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and improve programs for CNC machine tools using knowledge of cutting tool selection, cutting speeds and feeds for various materials, tool design, drawing dimensioning and tolerancing, and use CAD/CAM systems as required to perform tasks.
Who you are:
You work with an Engineering team to bring in new products. You help with the manufacturing process on the floor, such as machining, welding, painting, assembly, and cable manufacturing. You come up with cost reduction ideas and submit capital requests to justify the cost reduction or new equipment needed. You create CAD drawings for in-house tooling and CNC programs for various machining centers.
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
- Two-year (2) technical associate's degree or equivalent experience
- Good understanding of mechanical concepts
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:
- Four-year (4) technical degree with two (2) years of related experience or a two-year (2) technical degree with four (4) years of related experience is preferable
