Job Description:

This is a full-time Safety Specialist position located at a client facility working as part of the site’s occupational safety and health team in a high tech, dynamic environment. The client site is located approximately thirty minutes south of Poughkeepsie, New York, close to I-84 and I-87 and one hour from New York City.

Responsibilities include:

• Review equipment specifications, diagrams, and safety checklists for installations or removals of high tech equipment, working with site and contract personnel to ensure completion of applicable items for chemical and gas systems, interlock mechanisms, emergency shutdown, and other quality or safety controls.

• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and other assessments.
• Communicate site safety policies and work effectively with facility personnel and contractors.
• Conduct weekly and monthly tracking and reporting for safety and health metrics as assigned, and for hazards and near misses, incidents, and other safety program responsibilities.
• Review and update safety program documents and maintain required records.
• Coordinate or deliver safety training as assigned, such as new employee safety orientation and/or contractor safety orientation at the site.

• Assist client team in supporting Safety and Health initiatives, including audits for ISO 45001, the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), or other voluntary standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, industrial engineering, occupational safety and health, construction safety, or a related science or engineering field (relevant military/work experience considered as an alternate to the degree requirement)
• Experience range: at least 5 years
• Fluency in the English Language - written and oral
• Familiarity with U.S. OSHA regulations and national consensus standards
• Self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented individual
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work well in individual and team settings
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with electrical and mechanical systems including proficiency in reviewing plans and diagrams for equipment, buildings, and control systems
• Familiarity with manufacturing environment
• Previous experience in a site EHS department
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
