POSITION
SUMMARY
This position provides accompaniment for student recitals, as well as accompanies the Grinnell Singers, the college’s elite audition-based choral ensemble. This position will also offer piano lessons to select students and potentially help train students in the specifics of collaborative piano work (sometimes known as accompanying). There will also be opportunities to work with other members of the Grinnell College music faculty to prepare faculty recitals, ideally this position will help organize at least one faculty recital every academic year.
This opportunity is a P3 career level and nine-month position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare for student recitals
- Accompany Grinnell Singers
- Accompany student recitals
- Provide lessons
- Perform on faculty recitals
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree or equivalent
- Less than six months work experience
- DMA in Piano Performance or Collaborative Piano
- Ability to plan and organize events and programs with ease
- Adaptability to changing needs for students and staff
- Strong interpersonal versatility to connect with staff, students, and faculty alike
- Actively advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and initiatives
- Professionalism and integrity
