Responsibilities:
The Collections Specialist monitors and reviews account status reports to identify and resolve delinquent accounts.
- Makes outgoing calls from the workflow distribution software to delinquent customers to obtain payment.
- Answers incoming collection calls in a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-channel contact center using automated call distribution.
- Processes and records customer contacts accurately via the designated tracking software; Enters detailed notes in the required system to ensure all customer contact is documented.
- Reviews aging and other reports to identify delinquent account trends. Initiates collection process on overdue accounts by contacting community partners to recommend next steps.
- Researches and resolves potential billing errors, disputes, credits, and other issues through regular customer account audits to ensure billing accuracy. Escalates unresolved accounts to Senior Collections Specialist.
- Coordinates with others, including community partners and leadership, to develop, implement, and monitor collection strategy.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED is required. Two years of collections, accounts receivable, billing, or customer service experience in a call center or similar setting is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.) is required.
