What is a BGHF College Ambassador?
The BGH Foundation believes in meeting people where they are. In order to do so, our ambassadors connect within the communities virtually. While traditional mass marketing still plays a role in influencing behavior, to make a positive impact on public health, our ambassador program uses personal approaches that research shows are becoming more effective. Subsequently, the BGHF Ambassadors engage representatives from diverse institutions and communities to help eliminate health disparities and increase health literacy, among low-income families and underserved women and girls of color. The Ambassadors program promotes healthy behaviors amongst African American girls/women, with specific training on health risks, conducting educational workshops on disease prevention and health & wellness, and self-care advocacy.
Immediate Ambassador Project: Covid Campaign
Disseminate 10,000 culturally appropriate and trusted health information to college
students (20 students x 6 messages/week x 28 weeks x 3 social media platforms =
10,080 messages)
Write 20 articles that promote COVID-19 health awareness for college students
Create 20 digital health videos that promote COVID-19 health awareness for college
students
Collect 400 emails per month to subscribe to biweekly newsletter containing COVID
education, resources, and links to be vaccinated
Connect the CEAL teams to campus staff to organize at least 20 mobile vaccination
clinics for college students
Other Ambassador Activities:
The student ambassador will report to Black Girl Health Foundation College Ambassador Program Assistant Deaja Briscoe. Responsibilities include, but not limited to social media posting, article content writing, engaging in outreach for BGHF virtual events to increase membership and promote BGH membership registration, tracking and regular reporting of outreach metrics, developing and facilitating workshops for our mental health campaign workshop series.
What we’re looking for:
Active involvement in student body organizations on campus (sororities/fraternities, student government, cultural organizations)
Ability and flexibility to be available weekdays and on some weekends if needed
Ability to travel to community events
Strong organizational skills and sense of responsibility
A positive attitude and commitment to the BGH Foundation mission
Good writer and researcher
Interested in outreach events and helping to organize them
Social media skills
- good networking skills

Student Ambassadors are paid a stipend of $1,000 for their work provided and completed for the Covid Campaign.
