Hall Health Center has an outstanding opportunity for a 50-70% FTE Communications & Marketing Specialist. This position provides communications and marketing services for the University of Washington’s student health center to increase awareness of health services, promote student wellbeing, and support effective communication with UW Student Life and other campus partners.

The Communications & Marketing Specialist position operates under the general direction of the Hall Health Executive Director and works closely with Hall Health leadership and clinical units. The incumbent works closely with UW and Student Life campus partners to develop, implement and evaluate digital and print communication and marketing strategies in coordination with other UW Seattle communication and marketing units.

A strong candidate will be adept at creating compelling and visually-appealing communication and marketing materials tailored to target priority populations and managing social media and web presences in collaboration with wide-ranging stakeholders. They will demonstrate the ability to relate empathically, effectively, and consistently with a diverse student population and a commitment to cultivating long-lasting relationships with clinic and campus partners.

Hall Health Center, located on the UW Seattle Campus, is an AAAHC-accredited outpatient facility that provides a broad range of healthcare services. Hall Health Center is an essential service of the University of Washington and remains open during UW closures for severe weather, natural disasters, or other emergencies. All HHC staff members are considered essential employees and are expected to report to work as usual in such events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • External communications & marketing
  • Promote UW campus awareness of Hall Health services.
  • Identify and prioritize events, orientations, newsletters, and other opportunities to disseminate information about Hall Health.
  • Develop, implement, and track communications and marketing initiatives like email, social media, or digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Hall Health leadership and clinical staff to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives.
  • In coordination with clinical leaders, design, revise, implement, and evaluate patient education materials, including web content, electronic medical record “Smart Phrases,” brochures, postcards, and flyers.
  • Manage Hall Health’s portion of the UW Wellness Website; prioritize and implement website changes.
  • Coordinate with other Student Life units on other portions of the UW Wellness Website
  • Write, proofread, and edit content across different mediums.
  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar that ensures marketing efforts are compelling and relevant to students.
  • Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify new marketing opportunities.
  • Respond to media inquiries; build strong relationships with editors and reporters at UW’s student newspaper and other news outlets.
  • Coordinate the creation of high-quality photographs that feature Hall Health staff.
  • UW brand guidelines are met in all marketing materials.

    Internal communications
  • Assist with staff-focused communication and marketing as needed.
  • Participate in Operations, Clinical Council, and other committees as needed.
  • Develop and update internal signage as needed.

    Campus outreach
  • Participate in campus communications and marketing groups and committees.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
    2+ years of experience in marketing and communications or equivalent experience

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design fundamentals; background in Adobe design products
  • Experience with various marketing and analytics tools, including email marketing software and Google Analytics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills
  • Be adept at translating complex information into accessible content
  • Interest in healthcare
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and teamwork
  • Strong work ethic

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing WordPress websites
  • Experience with emerging social media platforms, such as Discord
  • Background in a healthcare setting
