Background:

TCF Tulsa Birth Equity Initiative, LLC currently partners with non-profit agencies, hospitals, community organizations that are delivering health and education services to expectant families in Tulsa. Tulsa Birth Equity Initiative (TBEI), a fiscally sponsored organization at the Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) that works to equip families in Tulsa to have healthy births with dignity and reduce maternal health disparities. We envision a Tulsa in which all people are centered and respected before, during, and after pregnancy.

Role Overview:

The Community Engagement specialist will be responsible for supporting community-led initiatives while serving as a super-connector who will be an active ambassador for Tulsa Birth Equity Initiative’s (TBEI) mission and vision. This role will be responsible for developing a comprehensive outreach strategy that will engage community and stakeholders, as well as provide oversite and financial responsibility of a budget for work related to Queens Village Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Essential Duties

Operational/ Community Support

• Increase community engagement through outreach. Meet with community members, deliver presentations, represent TBEI at local meetings, and create tools, fact sheets, presentations, and templates
• Refine and implement an effective local community engagement strategy
• Coordinates initiatives designed to promote the organization and its services to the community
• Create community awareness about TBEI programming through various social media platforms
• Arranges and facilitates community meetings to solicit ideas/input, address community members' concerns and encourage community participation in programming
• Manage community outreach materials and coordinate with team member on reorders
• Maintains contact with business and community leaders to coordinate special events and programs (i.e. business district banners, parades, etc.);

Queens Village

• Facilitate and plan Queens Village Tulsa Community Advisory Board Meetings and related events; Queens Village provides a safe space for Black mothers to support and be supported by their peers.
• Work cooperatively with other staff and serve as a resource to them
• Sole decision maker on events planned for Queens Village
• Develop and maintain partner relationships
• Ethically and beneficially spend provided budget to provide for successful events and other projects
• Reconcile Expenses
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

1. (a) Graduation from high school or procession of a General Education Development Certificate (GED), and

(b) Three (3) years of experience relevant to the essential tasks listed in this job description; OR

2. (a) Completion of tenth (10th) grade; and

(b) Five (5) years’ experience relevant to the essential tasks listed in this job description.

• Possess the ability to multitask across multiple program platforms

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Position frequently requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Position continually requires the ability to talk and hear both in person and over the phone, visual acuity; ability to operate equipment, read, and use a keyboard

Hours and Location

Work at the TBEI office in Tulsa, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with some off-site meetings. Some days will require flexible hours, with either an early start, late finish, and occasional weekend work to attend community events.
