Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, education, public health, human services, or criminal justice.
  • Must possess active status, with licensure or certification in accordance to professional field required by that governing body (LMSW, LPC, LLP, etc.) and one of the following:
    • Certified as a Prevention Consultant or Prevention Specialist (CPC-R or CPS) or
    • Must have a registered development plan and be timely in its implementation.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to translate industry specific data into community friendly language.
  • Coordinate and assist community based anti-drug coalitions.
  • Provide training to coalitions on building capacity and engaging members all community sectors.
  • Aid in creating and maintaining a social media presence for local anti-drug coalitions.
  • Understands and applies the Strategic Prevention Framework to community work.
  • Schedule and implement training programs and projects.
  • Demonstrates full comprehension of management by objective (MBO) plan and meets quality programmatic standards.
  • Completes activities associated with assigned MBO hours in a timely fashion and complete total assigned MBO hours.
  • Reports data and outcomes as required.
  • Disseminate substance use information at health and public fairs, school open houses and other community events as requested.
  • Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including some evening and weekends.
  • Knowledgeable of national and local substance use and prevention statistics and demonstrates the ability to apply current trends to service delivery.
  • Coordinate and/or assist with agency summer camp (s).
  • Establish and maintain liaison relationships with appropriate agencies regarding substance use prevention.
