JustMedia is an open-access lens-based archive designed to support advocacy efforts for systemic reform through the art of storytelling. JustMedia focuses on challenging the criminal legal system by organizing, amplifying, and sharing existing visual media content that tell a variety of stories. This intentional act serves as a media literacy tool for the movement to end mass incarceration and achieve abolition.
JustMedia is a network and vibrant community of storytellers who create and maintain partnerships with leading social justice groups, and offer our extensive multimedia database as a cost-free membership. We support, connect, and inspire by offering stories of and by families and communities impacted by the system; while offering support through lesson planning, amplifying, networking for writers and storytellers, leaders, and organizers.
The Community Engagement Manager administers organizational programs aimed at addressing the needs of the surrounding area while coordinating initiatives designed to promote the organization and its services to the community. While reporting to Senior Directors, the Community Engagement Manager will gain exposure to some of the complex tasks with the job function and may manage charitable giving programs as necessary.
THE ROLE
- Develop community partnerships, manage community health education activities and events, and promote JustMedia to new and returning partners
- Responsible for setting up opportunities for community engagement - setting goals, supervising events/activities, developing lesson plans, setting schedules, and facilitating workshops
- Design, develop and implement the annual needs assessment and outreach plan for the JustMedia team
- Work with Communications Operations Manager on marketing strategies and campaigns using digital communication via website, text line, patient portal, social media, and e-newsletters
- Engage and connect with community leaders, serving as the JustMedia lead liaison with community agencies and various constituents
- Establish linkages and memorandums of agreement with other organizations and schools
- Coordinate special events with a minimum of one event per season
- Track key performance indicators, productivity, and deliverables
- Submit reports in a timely manner
Requirements and Qualifications
- Commitment to a Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- A track record of successfully conducting community outreach and promotion
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills across a range of tasks and audiences
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, multitask, and take initiative
- Tech savvy with strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and marketing tools (such as Canva, Adobe)
- Knowledge of social media platforms and their metrics
- Very strong writing, speaking and telephone communication skills
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative personalities are a must!
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17,500.00 per year
