COMMUNITY RESOURCE SPECIALIST
MENTAL HEALTH
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BA Degree in Rehabilitation, Psychology, and Counseling, Social
Work or Related field required.
Experience: American Sign Language a plus. Experience working in the mental health or social service field preferred. Experience working with curriculum development in a Psychiatric Day Program setting.
Preferred Skills: Professional written and oral communication skills
Experience creating and implementing trainings for consumers
Knowledge in teaching and assisting with Independent Living
Skills
Person-Centered Planning skills
Crisis Intervention
Supervised by: PRP Supervisor
SCOPE OF DUTIES:
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position, which includes benefits
- Provide Psychiatric Rehabilitation services to adult clients with chronic mental health diagnosis o Develop curricula and teach groups to address rehabilitation needs of the people we serve. Lead or assist with all groups/classes according to the schedule. The schedule of classes will be reviewed at least monthly to ensure that groups provided are of interest to the people we serve and address their rehabilitation goals. o Develop and implement interventions with the people we serve to help them to achieve their goals. o Meet 1:1 with each person on caseload at least one time per week to discuss progress on goals, mental and physical health needs, etc. o Provide crisis intervention and counseling services as needed to the people we serve. o Assist clients to create menu, shop, prepare, and clean up meals provided at PRP.
o Provide and participate with people enrolled in the program in community activities that will assist them with their rehabilitation goals. o Assist the people we serve to access other services as needed (e.g., DORS,
MRC, etc). o Communicate regularly with residential programs, family members, and/or other outside agencies regarding programmatic schedules, incident reports, progress on goals, etc. o Assist and mentor clients on money budgeting o Mentor and train individuals to run and operate the Oasis store located in
PRP in Landover Hills
- Coordinate and assist with member appointments with other providers
(doctors, clinic, dentist, DORS, etc.). o Assist members as needed to set up appointments. o Provide or assist with arrangement of transportation to all member appointments. o Help to train members how to use public transportation
- Documentation
o Complete daily progress notes. o Submit monthly notes regarding progress on each client. o Submit Incident Reports (IR) as needed for each instance of unusual behavior, fighting, hospitalization, client or staff injury, client severe illness, or any instance in which 911 is called. All IR’s must be completed and submitted by the end of the shift in which the incident occurs. o Document external appointments as they occur. o File all documentation as soon as it has been approved.
- Programmatic Duties
o Attend and participate in all staff meetings as scheduled.
o Attend and successfully complete all workshops and training sessions assigned by supervisor.
o Maintain good driving record
o Submit request for programmatic funds
o Maintain client funds in locked box and keep accurate documentation of client funds being deposited and withdrawn
o All other duties as assigned.
