Position Summary
The Human Resources Department at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invites applications for the full-time, benefit eligible position of Compensation Analyst.
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and as a part of the Total Rewards team with the Benefits Manager, this position has primary responsibility for administration of the compensation program for both the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) & Saint John’s University (SJU) and joint responsibility for managing the Total Rewards strategy. The Compensation Analyst will provide strategic leadership in administration of the institutions’ compensation program, monitoring trends and best practices to ensure CSB and SJU provide a competitive and sustainable program. This position works collaboratively with the HR Partners and Budget Analyst in executing all compensation decisions aligned with faculty and staff employment actions.
The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) is a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John's University (SJU) is a liberal arts college for men and a graduate School of Theology and Nursing for both men and women and is also the home of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library and the Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research. Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in administering the Administrative and Support staff compensation program, policies and practices ensuring equity within/across the institutions and compliance with applicable state/federal regulations.
- Develop and effectively recommend to the Chief Financial Officers the annual Across-the-Board increase and range/market funding for all staff positions. Monitor economic factors that affect recruitment and retention of staff and develop compensation strategies.
- Establish market-pricing methodologies, formulate and present recommendations for leadership review. Conduct IPEDS reporting; participate in compensation surveys, analyze results, and propose changes, as appropriate.
- Manage various compensation related programs and processes: phased retirement program, unemployment insurance, verification of employment, etcetera.
- Support and provide guidance to HR partners, as needed, in compensation decisions associated with employment actions.
- Oversee faculty contract administration in collaboration with the Provost’s Office.
- Serve as the compensation representative for CSB Union negotiations.
- In collaboration with the CHRO and Board Chair, compile benchmark data for the Executive Compensation Committees of the Boards responsible for the presidents’ compensation review.
- Cross train with the benefits manager to back up benefits work.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Human Resources Officer or Chief Operating Officer.
Qualifications
Required:
- Baccalaureate degree in related field (e.g. Finance, HR, Business Management); Masters’ degree preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations affecting compensation
- Demonstrated leadership experience in the human resources field, with focus in compensation administration.
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment collaborating in departmental and institutional initiatives
- Respect for confidentiality and ability to exercise discreet judgment in managing sensitive data
Skills and Abilities:
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal relations skills
- Advanced computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office with expertise in HR and compensation systems and database management. Financial modeling experience desired
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Public speaking and facilitation skills to present to employee groups and lead the benefits committee
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in managing multiple priorities
