- Plan, coordinate and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Diagnose software problems and implement solutions.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software and all configurations.
- Plan, coordinate and implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware.
- Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine software requirements related to such changes.
- Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Gather data pertaining to customer needs and use the information to identify, predict, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements.
- Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
- Maintain and improve current computer lab images and push accordingly.
- Stay abreast of current commercial solutions and best practices and implement or recommend the implementation.
- Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate purchases.
- Confer with staff, users and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
- Help hire, supervise and train student employees ensuring they comply with procedures that have been put in place
- Guide work duties of other technicians.
- Create and implement departmental policy on work order requests, network usage and physical/virtual security of COE assets.
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information System (MIS), Computer Science (CS) or a related field; OR four years of computer-related experience in managing, supporting, installing, assembling, and testing desktop/laptop based software and hardware; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing Windows, Linux/Unix, and Mac computers.
- Experience in managing and deployment IT equipment and hardware and maintaining servers.
- Experience in managing and deployment of IT equipment and maintaining servers
- Experience with VMWare, Hyper-V, and Ghost Solution Suite
- Basic understanding of Active Directory and group policy
- Experience with network attached storage devices
