Continuous Improvement Lead

We are currently in search of a Continuous Improvement Lead to join our Other areas department of the Marquardt Group in our location Cazenovia (USA).

The Continuous Improvement Lead is responsible for implementing and driving the continuous improvement program throughout the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement continuous improvement strategy, initiatives, processes and projects that include Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools (DMAIC, Kaizen, PDCA, Ishikawa, etc.) to drive change, increase efficiency and productivity, generate cost-savings, positively impact KPI’s, and encourage growth and development within the organization
  • Create and foster a culture of change and shared ownership of CI
    Coordinate functional continuous improvement process in plant with Corporate ME and cultivate global ME network
  • Drives Marquardt Idea Program
  • Applies, evolves, trains and coaches lean six sigma and continuous improvement methods, tools, problem-solving and vocabulary
  • Develops and implements best practices and takes over global leadership role for ME best practice
  • Generates, challenges and improves standards
  • Prepares and leads Marquardt Lean Assessment, identifies improvements and creates roadmap for lean development at the local plant. MLA assessor at other International Marquardt locations
  • Supports and participates in multiple audits and certifications
  • Project Management Office for Strategic and Continuous Improvement projects
  • Coaches and supports cross-functional project teams with structured project management approach, templates, and tracking including planning and organizing, methods/tools/analysis support and executing complex projects across multiple areas and stakeholders
  • Co-responsible with Operations for the successful and effective use of plant daily communication process and platform (MEP)
  • Executes dedicated trainings for project teams and executives for sustainable MOS (Marquardt Operating System) implementation
  • Facilitates workshops such as SMED’s, GEMBa’s, Kaizen’s, Process Improvements, etc., strategic planning sessions, 3P’s and training events
  • Leads lean and six sigma Black Belt level continuous improvement projects, statistical and data analysis and technical presentations
  • Calculates cost reductions (hard and soft) and/or various analyses to determine optimal method, impact and prioritization.
  • Plan and apply data collection techniques and subsequent graphical analysis, summaries and recommendations
  • Performs DOE’s and controlled studies
  • Research, analyze, and look for new, innovative ideas and approaches to develop and improve business processes and conduct related cost-benefit analyses
  • Build strong partnerships with leaders to understand and pull in improvement opportunities
  • Manages and develops CI Specialist


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operational Management, Industrial Engineering or other Engineering disciplines with 5+ year’s related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • LSS Black Belt certification
  • Experience leading projects, improvements, and workshops, preferably in Lean/Six Sigma in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Math or Statistics knowledge
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Mini-Tab, Qs-Stat, or other statistical software
  • CAD, layouts, and technical drawing and specification working knowledge preferred
  • Quality training/certifications and experience preferred
  • Leads by example – exhibits passion and enthusiasm for Safety, Quality, and Operational Excellence
  • Thorough understanding and application of the principles and techniques of Lean and Six Sigma
  • Candidate must have experience in identifying areas of improvement and planning for and leading lean initiatives. Hands-on; Lean/Six Sigma implementation experience managing key projects with various cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading CI workshops, problem-solving activities, and other methods/tools training initiatives
  • Advanced verbal communication skills (including facilitation and negotiation), especially in translating direct feedback from customers and stakeholders into business process improvement opportunities
  • Influential - Ability to work with cross-functional teams and diverse cultures both internally and external to the organization to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization, foster collaboration and achieve buy-in
  • Must be self-motivated, driven and able to keep track of multiple activities and priorities at any given time. Performs work with a high degree of autonomy, responsibility and ownership
  • Must demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills and is detail-oriented
  • Fluidity – adapts to the changing ambiguity of a leader covering multiple projects and initiatives
  • Absolute personal integrity, credibility, trustworthiness, confidentiality and discretion
  • Creative – brings new ideas to the team, challenges conventions and standards, and proposes alternative solutions

Travel:

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed <5%.
