Potpourri Group is seeking a Control Buyer/Planner, a key position at our corporate office in North Billerica, Massachusetts. This position is responsible for the purchasing of APPAREL and GIFT PRODUCTS to meet demand forecasts, maximizing fulfillment and minimizing markdown risk. Also expedites orders to insure timely deliveries.

Responsibilities:

• Plans and places initial orders on items within established time and dollar levels.
• Places reorder to minimize backorders. Working to achieve high fulfillment without creating excess stock. Takes into account current market trends and the future life of the items.
• Review inventory and open orders for overstock and negotiates returns with vendors.
• Obtains delivery information on all items and updates system to inform customer service.
• Continuously review backorder status and strive to release backorders quickly.
• Develops relationships with vendors. Inform and advises vendor performance to merchandising.
• Negotiates discounts on substantial reorders.
• Identifies over shipments and vendor discrepancy and negotiates solutions, working with the warehouse staff.

Experience Requirements:

• Analytical
• Detail orientated and well organized.
• Sound Negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Experience in the use on a computer inventory system
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2 years of purchasing experience in retail industry
