SUMMARY:

Controls Technician is a valuable member of a versatile team. He/she should possess not only the ability to program and troubleshoot PLC / HMI controls systems, but also a wide range of electrical and control issues. The preferred candidate will possess a varied mechanical skillset that allows him to function effectively in this highly diversified role.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Familiarity with control panels and electrical components associated
  • Create, change, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI programming
  • Ability to install new electrical systems including control panels, conduit, fittings, and wire
  • Maintenance on pumps, blowers, motors, valves, etc., removal
  • Familiar with and able to work with high voltage power applications in a safe manner
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously and be aware of safety hazards
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues
  • Participate in 24hr on call rotation
  • Work alone in a safe manner
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work weekends and occasional holidays during emergency events
  • Project a positive and professional image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 years of PLC Programming experience
  • 3 years of electrical controls experience
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
    • Valid Driver’s license
  • Other skills required:
    • Background in Direct Logic & Allen Bradley PLC programming

  • Occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold (non-weather)
  • Occasionally exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise (examples: metal can manufacturing, large earth-moving equipment)
  • Frequently exposed to very loud noise (example: jack hammer work)
