Position OverviewThe Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a Cook Manager for Country Elementary School. This is a part-time position, seven hours per day (7:00 AM to 2:00 PM) when school is in session, reporting to the Food Services Director. About the Weston Public SchoolsThe Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12).
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a cook, performing various kitchen duties, including planning and timely preparation of quality foods
- Supervise and have overall responsibility for the operation of the Country School kitchen
- Train staff in preparation, serving, and storage of food per Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations
- Implement effective sanitation and safety procedures
- Finalize all food prior to service for taste, appearance, temperature, and volume
- Meet or exceed the nutritional standards set by the United states Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and financial standards set by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Maintain daily production records to meet or exceed USDA and DESE regulations
- Perform cashiering and daily deposit requirements with accuracy
- Monitor the Point of Sale (POS) system, including all account balances and notifications
- Perform other kitchen assignments as directed by the Food Services Director or his designee
- High school diploma
- Previous cafeteria or restaurant experience
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
