Position Title: Office of 1st Year Experience: Coordinator

Department: 1050|Office of 1st Year Experience

Responsibilities:


The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking applications for the Coordinator of First-Year Student Programming. This successful candidate will work in the area of Student Success within the Division of Academic Affairs. The Coordinator will work under the direction of the Associate Director of the First-Year Experience. This position will oversee the programming and student leadership components of the First-Year Experience and will resume the following responsibilities:


Primary Functions:

  • Oversee campus wide events including Freshman Week and The Big Event
  • Lead the efforts for the Peer Mentor program and its associated events
  • Assist and provide support to other campus wide events supporting first-year students including but not limited to: Cajun Connection, Family Weekend, New Student Convocation, Orientation, Move-In Day, and other student focused events.
  • Recruit and select student leaders for programs within the Office of the First-Year Experience
  • Partner with the UNIV 100 First-Year Seminar Program
  • Serve on student success and campus committees
  • Assist the Associate Director of the First-Year Experience with development and programming of Living/Learning Communities, First-Year Student Communication Plan, and other projects
  • Collaborate with offices within the Department of Student Success including the Academic Success Center, Louisiana Educate Program, and The Learning Center, as well as other student-focused offices throughout the institution
  • Develop new student initiatives and high-impact practices for the Office of First-Year Experience
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree for an accredited institution
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of best practices in the areas of First-Year Students, Retention, Transition and Student Success
  • Working knowledge and experience with planning and executing of large scale events
  • Demonstrated experience with undergraduate student recruitment, selection, training, and development
  • Familiarity and experience with budget management
  • Proven experience advising collegiate student organizations
  • Experience with various technologies including Banner and Microsoft Office Suite
