Unit Mission Statement
The University Registrar’s Office exists to support the education of students at William & Mary, to protect the integrity of William & Mary degree, to uphold and assure consistent application of the academic rules and regulations, as set forth by the faculty, Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States government. Essential responsibilities are to maintain accurate records, to allow access to student records in compliance with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, and to support the academic program of the university by gathering, maintaining and distributing information. Inherent in the effectiveness of this office is a commitment to objectivity and equity, with the understanding that there is an obligation to communicate information accurately and effectively.

Position Summary
Under limited supervision, this position develops and coordinates the process for tracking and recording all non-credit course information for the university. Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Non-Credit Operations:
a. Coordinate and develop all aspects of centralized non-credit operations for the university with participants in Banner or other central services. This may include, program and course creation and scheduling, student enrollment, transcript generation, and reporting.
b. Maintain catalog-level documentation for all programs using veterans benefits or requiring central coordination for compliance purposes.
c. Serve as liaison from University Registrar’s Office for all centralized non-credit operations.
2. Academic Scheduling support to specific activities:
a. Manage quality controls for academic scheduling
b. Manage tiered enrollment during Priority Registration
c. Manage room assignments for final exams for fall and spring
d. Respond to scheduling change survey (change details in Banner for classes already scheduled)
e. Develop training by preparing materials and documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of enrollment, registration and record-keeping policies and procedures.
  • Technical proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, queries, and reports.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in a high volume, highly technical environment.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication and the ability to manage expectations and needs of customer base with tact and cordiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and make decisions in relationship to federal and state policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in an independent environment and form productive working relationships


Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or other comparable experience
  • Banner knowledge and experience
  • Experience with either non-credit operations or class scheduling
  • Higher education experience
  • Knowledge of an enterprise student information system.

Conditions of Employment
  • Some extended hours and weekend work are rare and tend to be linked with major university initiatives such as commencement and orientation.
  • Some travel may be required for relevant workshops, etc.
  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
  • All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve month period beginning May 1 each year.
