Position Title: The Learning Center: Coordinator of Learning Assistance Programs

Department: 1052|The Learning Center

Responsibilities:


This professional will manage the day-to-day operation of The Learning Center (TLC). This position requires a high level of autonomy, initiative, ability and willingness to learn; excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities; and an innovative approach. This staff member will report to the Associate Director of The Learning Center and will assist in the supervision of undergraduate student tutors, graduate students, and desk workers.

Responsibilities:
The Coordinator of The Learning Center will:

  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day operation of The Learning Center (TLC) including:

o Providing excellent service and support to UL Lafayette students using and/or seeking TLC services.

o Performing all duties related to the hiring of tutors, Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders, and desk assistants including reviewing job applications, interviewing, initiating payroll processes, scheduling, and performing bi-weekly payroll.

o Scheduling and coordinating group tutoring at TLC and other locations across campus.

o Developing and conducting a tutor/mentor training program that meets the certification guidelines of the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA).

o Maintaining online scheduling through TutorTrac and providing tracking/reports through the software, working with tech support personnel as needed

  • Assist with student employee semester evaluations.
  • Assist with the expansion of the SI program.
  • Assist with the maintenance of CRLA and SI certifications.
  • Assist with promotion of services offered by The Learning Center, online tutoring, and other campus peer education resources to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ensure maintenance and full functionality of TLC equipment.
  • Serve as web ambassador for The Learning Center and manage all social media accounts.
  • Work nontraditional hours as needed for the purposes of staff training, supervision, and campus events.

Qualifications:


Minimum required qualifications are a Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization from a regionally accredited institution and minimum one year experience in field of education.
