UTZ Quality Foods is liking for a Corporate Safety Coordinator to work out of our Goodyear, AZ location to support our Algona, WA, Las Vegas, NV and Goodyear, AZ manufacturing facilities. This position will assist local teams with the implementation and practical application of safety program elements, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, which are designed to protect the human, financial and physical assets of Utz Quality Foods. The successful candidate will help create a company-wide safety culture through safety training, risk assessments and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• This position will require between 25 - 50 percent travel throughout the lower 48 states but will primarily support the Goodyear AZ, Algona WA, and la Vegas NV manufacturing plants.
• Support and promote safety programs, practices and procedures that are intended to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental losses or workplace injuries.
• Assist local management staff with understanding relevant OSHA standards and how to meet compliance; including the handling of any potential OSHA inspections or citations.
• Support risk management planning activities at the local level (audits, tracking action items, and metrics) to yield accurate and timely results.
• Ensure that Utz accident reporting requirements are met.
• Become the lead investigator for any serious work-related injuries or incidents.
• Evaluate hazardous work conditions or practices and develop appropriate corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate risk.
• Assist work teams at all locations with critical safety and health problems.
• Help compile and review internally generated statistical information and participate in developing recommendations.
• Coordinate and/or assist with industrial hygiene services provided by our insurance carriers.
• Keep apprised of and inform Utz management of developments in federal and state safety laws that are likely to affect the company.
• Represent Utz with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the company.
• Conduct education, development, training and safety projects as required.

• Fluent in both English and Spanish; written and verbal communications.
• Bachelor's degree in Safety Sciences or Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management-related experience with an emphasis on occupational safety.
• Proven leadership skills along with the ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
• Able to partner with internal customers and demonstrate knowledge of the business, including key issues, processes and needs.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of Utz associates and management.
• Strong interpersonal and training skills to lead training sessions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
