This position is located at C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center. 2200 Harden Street Columbia, SC
Under the Supervision of the Director of Recreation and Community Outreach Services or designee (License Nurse) you will provide specialized therapeutic recreation activities to culturally diverse resident population at the Stone Pavilion across the life span based on individualized Activity Therapy Care Plans. Assists residents in meeting their needs for dignity and quality of life maintenance. Utilizing effective leadership and interpersonal skills, provides guidance and assists in providing and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.

Responsible for providing meaningful observations and individualized documentation of activity attendance; participates and responds to interventions and any changes in behavior, mental and/or physical state and the general well-being of residents. Reports to the Director of Recreation and Community Outreach Services or designee (Licensed Nurse) to ensure resident safety. You will be assigned to perform close observations, one-to-one (1:1) and hall monitoring on a unit.

Fosters appropriate and empathetic communication skills while maintaining a therapeutic interpersonal relationship with residents. Assist in providing a safe and therapeutic environment, utilizing de-escalation techniques and assists with crisis intervention.

Adheres to policies and procedures for: PPD policy, mandatory education and training, Corporate Compliance, HIPAA and Harassment-Free Workplace.
There are four (4) positions available

State Requirement: A high school diploma and relevant human services or social services experience.


The selected candidate must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds (may be required to lift more during times of emergencies), and to perform MAPS and CPR. Must be able to stand, walk, reach, push, pull, stoop, bend, and climb at least two (2) to three (3) flights of stairs, tolerate noise levels, circulate in patient areas for long periods of time and work with repetitive unusual resident behavior. Must be willing to work during times of hazardous weather.
