POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Credit Manager oversees all activities related to credit and collections for our Company's North America businesses, including our customers credit terms and setup through the cash collection processes. You will be responsible for a team of six credit specialists to ensure they are working effectively and efficiently through performance management reviews and metrics evaluation. You will work with many internal and external customers, which requires effective communication across many levels. You will be a global leader in our credit and collection processes/polices and works with our global teams to ensure procedures are maintained and followed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee our customer credit limits and payment terms, including approval processes:

o Analyzing credit worthiness and company stability through use of credit rating reports, credit applications, purchase order reviews, and company financial statement analysis.

o Minimize bad debt losses by performing customer credit analysis to adjust customer credit limits and payment terms.

o Work with the commercial teams to ensure that opportunities are maximized to improve sales and minimize overall credit risk.

o Make recommendations on placing customers on credit hold, implementing letters of credit or cash in advance.

  • Oversee customer aging review meetings and monitor corrective action plans. This includes root cause analysis on why payments are not made effectively and working with our internal team and the customer to fix the root cause going forward.
  • Manage the customer debit or short-payment resolution process by proactively working with Sales, Warranty, MP&L and others as applicable.

o In addition, this position is responsible to the accounting related to customer debit or short payments.

  • Review and calculate the bad debt reserve quarterly and bad-debt write-offs.
  • Provide monthly receivables past due summary reports to executive leadership with value-added commentary to help understand and resolution of top customer past dues.
  • Oversee price reconciliation process and look for ways to continuously improve.
  • Responsible for our global credit policies and working with our global credit teams to ensure effective policies are in place and followed. This includes responsibility to ensure internal control requirements are met per Company policy.
  • Maintain the AR sub-ledger system, including testing and approval of software upgrades and enhancements in cooperation with IT personnel.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes of accounts receivables, including preparing reports/ schedules, performing reconciliations, analyzing revenue and providing other ad-hoc information requested by management, audit or other departments.
  • Complete accurate customer collection forecasts and analysis.
  • Review credit and collections processes to identify weaknesses or areas of opportunity by which to include the IT, Finance, and Sales departments.
  • Develop and report metrics on credit team using the performance development process, work performance and customer account status and ensures that the collections team is effectively following up and routinely contacting all customers with accounts that are past due.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years Credit experience
  • Management experience
  • SAP experience
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills; high level of professionalism
  • Driven and organized.
  • Display decision-making; includes appropriate people in the decision-making process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
