Job description
First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, results-driven Underwriter I to join our Credit Department. As an Underwriter I, under your supervisor’s guidance, you will prepare credit requests and annual reviews for existing credit facilities, analyze financial statements and underwrite credit requests of the bank’s commercial customers, with focus on low complexity credits. Underwriting includes the assessment of credit, structural, business, and financial risk of the borrower. Analysis will includes spreading of financial statements and preparation of cash flow to support credit underwriting and financial analysis.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1 year of experience in credit analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration related fields, or equivalent work experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
- At least 2 years of financial analysis and/or commercial lending experience preferred.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, and accurate when working with numbers.
