Critical Care Nursing Educator

Job Description:
The nursing educator, in conjunction with the unit’s patient care managers, has a primary focus of ensuring the critical care units, Telemetry, Cath Lab and medical-surgical units receive required and requested education to support safe and effective practice. In addition, the nursing educator can provide additional education to other staff members as needed. The nursing educator works together with the other educators and director of nursing education to design, implement, maintain, and monitor the effectiveness of educational programs, including performance improvement activities within the department.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Current New York State Registered Nurse Licensure
- BCLS, ACLS and PALS
- MSN required
- Recommended certification in area of expertise
- CCRN PREFERRED
Job Requirements and skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within area of nursing expertise.
- Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula.
- Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs.
- Technical leadership skills within area of expertise.
- Advanced nursing skills in area of specialty.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
- Basic computer knowledge
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
