Culinary Arts Trainer - YouthBuild - Part Time

YouthBuild Lowell is seeking a part-time Culinary Arts Trainer to support the Culinary Instructor and students enrolled in YouthBuild programming!

YouthBuild is a vocational program for young adults between the ages of 16 to 24 who have dropped out of school and are ready to embrace a second chance to receive educational and vocational training to achieve success. YouthBuild provides education and employment training to prepare youth for careers in either Construction and/or Culinary Arts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support with promotion, community development and relationship building for CTI’s YouthBuild Culinary Arts Program within the community. Includes program marketing and outreach, as well as seeking, establishing and maintaining relationship partnership businesses
  • Assist with developing and implement training and culinary curriculum.
  • Assist with identifying work with community partners to develop internship opportunities for students.
  • Assist with maintaining clean work areas including prep tables, storage spaces, refrigerators and stoves in accordance with sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with inventory, including receiving inventory and stocking of shelves.
  • Assist with Pick up non-vendor supplies from local supplier.
  • Assist Culinary Instructor with maintaining strict food safety and personal hygiene standards. Ensure quality State/Federal standards are being met.
  • Attend regular food service meetings and all mandatory food service training.
  • Uphold the values of CTI C.A.R.E.S. – Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful, Empathetic, Services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Culinary Arts Education or experience in food service industry required along with supervisory experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • 2 years previous experience in food service operations required.
  • General knowledge of food preparation and nutrition.
  • Ability to be a team player/leader in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Reliable transportation.

LICENSES and CERTIFICATES:

  • ServSafe will be be required within the first 3 months of employment
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within 3 months of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform moderate labor
