The Culinary Specialist will be responsible for strategically utilizing foodservice knowledge and expertise, in combination with industry trends and familiarity with Chelsea Milling Co products, to provide talking points for our mix lines and business solutions to our customers. The role of this position is to promote the versatility of our mixes to operators. This work is done collaboratively with Sales to determine the best way to highlight our mixes and coordinate the food portion of the food presentations and food photography with the Marketing Events Planner. He/she will develop and test recipes for customers and sales presentations that create interest and solve challenges for the operators. He/she will research food trends and provide culinary insight both internally and with external customers. Will create and execute baking production lists as needed for product samples for the Sales Team to show at food shows. Will collect data and feedback for proposed recipe development and be willing to make adjustments to recipes with provided feedback. He/she will participate in food shows, presentations, and other strategic events. Travel up to 30%.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary or food-related degree preferred (Food Science, Culinary Arts, etc.).
  • Experience in recipe development, with at least five years of prior experience in a commercial/production kitchen or other professional cooking or food environment.
  • Ideal candidate would be a Certified Research Chef or have prior experience as a pastry chef.
  • Knowledge of recipes, basic mixing and blending skills and the ability to follow formulations precisely.
  • Working knowledge of how food ingredients function in baked goods.
  • Demonstrated success communicating food trends and their applications to a wide variety of audiences and platforms including food shows and virtual presentations.
  • Create and execute baking production lists as needed for product samples for the Sales Team to show at food shows.
  • Collect data and feedback for proposed recipe development and be willing to make adjustments to recipes with provided feedback.
  • The ability to collaborate well with others, including the R&D team, Sales Team and other departments throughout the company.
