Job description
Greer Middle College is seeking a full-time custodian for the hours of 2 pm to 10 pm, Monday through Friday. This full-time custodian position also receives state benefits.
Schedule for Custodian
- 12 months with 10 days of vacation time.
- Monday through Friday 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 pm, except on school holidays
Responsibilities for Custodian
- Maintain floors in a clean state by vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and waxing them
- Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
- Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms as needed
- Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
- Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
- Lock and unlock doors and gates as instructed
- Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or school administration
Qualifications for Custodian
- Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
- Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds required; 75 pounds preferred.
- Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
- Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
- Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
- Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
- Must be eligible for employment by the state of South Carolina and pass a background check
