SUMMARY
This position assists supervisor in creating consumer billing files, registration forms, ROI's billing notes payments, and correspondence.
JOB DUTIES
- Maintains, key enters, updates and verifies all alternate resources data necessary for patient registration and for accurate billing through the use of the patient registration system.
- Effectively communicates with patients as to what specific information is needed, the reason for requesting such information, and ascertains the accuracy of the information received.
- Performs all data for demographics, charges, payments, and adjustment transactions resulting from a patient encounter in an efficient and timely manner.
- Obtains copies and forwards with bill any supporting documentation requested by third-party payers.
- Reconciles system totals with transactions entered against daily audits on each batch. Investigates discrepancies and modifies errors accordingly to the original document using appropriate correcting mechanisms prior to posting the patient accounts.
- Performs overall control procedures for daily balancing, monthly closing, and year-end closures for all receivables using provided controls forms. Investigates discrepancies relating to balancing procedures.
- Re-bills charges to third-party payers after two months of no response.
- Executes computer process to updated/close out transactions and distribute reports generated to division directors as needed.
- Promotes a courteous, efficient public image to patients, families, and co-workers during all work and work-related encounters.
- Ensures timely completion and maintains precise consumer registration form, ROI's billing notes, payments, and correspondence.
- Effectively communicates with consumers as to what specific information is needed, the reason for requesting such information, and verifies the accuracy of the information received.
- Communicates with program staff in a professional and positive manner.
- Assists with special projects as directed by supervisor.
- Collects, reviews, and enters data into the database daily in an accurate and timely manner.
- Tracks information and runs reports for supervisor, as requested.
- Prepares data for weekly, monthly, and annual reports as well as other special assigned reports.
- Attends all required staff meetings, in-service trainings, and other required meetings.
- Serves as back-up for other clerical positions in the assigned program.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
- Ability to report to work in a timely manner.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret/understand billing procedures.
- Skill in the operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software
- Above-average skills in operating/using computers and using Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Above-average communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaskan Native populations.
- Works in an environment where protection of confidentiality is essential.
- Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines,
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION (Education & Experience)
- High school diploma or equivalent, and
- Minimum of two (2) year's experience involving data entry, billing, and/or performing diverse administrative duties.
- One (1) year of experience working in a service-oriented environment.
- A combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for the degree requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION (Education & Experience)
- Associate's degree in business administration in a related field.
- Four (4) years of experience involving data management.
