Job Summary
The Data Research Analyst (Decision Support Analyst working title) provides critical analytical support to help manage UK’s research enterprise. In the Office of the Vice President for Research, this position will independently engage with customer and peer groups, such as personnel of offices internal to University of Kentucky Research (e.g., Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (OSPA), Office of Research Integrity (ORI), etc.), colleges, departments, and support units, to gather requirements, influence how our services are measured, and independently craft extraordinary dashboards, self-service tools, and reports to analyze and present information associated with extramural research data, operations, and strategic decision-making.

This position will develop, coordinate, and provide training and related materials to support consumers of extramural research data. Developed training may be delivered in both virtual and in-person environments depending on the requirements of the consumer. This position will effectively work with a variety of stakeholders across campus.

Using internal and external data to independently perform standard data analyses as required by the VPR Office; conduct ad-hoc analyses as requested by the VPR Office. Independently assembles standard reports defined by the VPR using data and analytics derived from the research enterprise; designs and develops ad-hoc reports to meet special information needs defined by the VPR Office; manages timelines and production processes to assure reports are timely and accurate.

Independently responsible for building and maintaining metadata of data architecture for databases and reports. Prepares flowcharts and other documentation to illustrate data flow through systems and procedures and provides user documentation. Routinely updates Tableau report metadata and assists with archiving obsolete work.

This position requires an advanced proficiency in the use of Tableau Desktop.
