Data Scientist at Sports Startup

Summary:

We looking for a great programmer that may already love sports! Although we’d like excitement about sports, we want them to be excited about writing great code. You’ll be working with experienced, knowledgeable people to optimize existing algorithms and design new ones. The sports you’ll work on include football, baseball, basketball, golf, and more.

This is a contract position with the potential to join the team as a full-time employee.

Your effort will lead to a new product launch later this year.

Job duties:

• Design and preprocess data models in collaboration with the team’s Chief Data Scientist and CEO.
• Machine learning algorithm selection, tuning, and parameter optimization.
• Collaborate with team including sports and wagering experts to design and test new algorithms.
• Assist with integrating the optimized algorithms developed in our stats lab to production apps.
• Design and develop reports to assist marketing and product deveopment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree or higher in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (advanced degree preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in data modeling and handling.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in machine learning algorithm selection, tuning and parameter optimization.
• Proficiency with data modeling and SQL.
• Passionate and enthusiastic for sport and statistics.
• Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.

Job Types: Contract, Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
