- Effectively manages student discipline issues in cooperation with Principal, Assistant Principal, Social Workers, and Counselors.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and building leadership to develop and implement effective intervention, transition, strategies, credit recovery of students, and assistant with student issues, and to coordinate available services.
- Communicates with parents through a variety of means; holds conferences as needed to discuss individual student’s progress and school programs; coordinates parent activities.
- Maintains and periodically reviews student discipline records.
- Responsible for providing intervention services to student at risk, including whole groups, small groups or one-on-one with students.
- Works with administrative staff to maintain school discipline plans.
- Keeps administrative and building staff informed of all activities.
- Fosters an environment conducive to learning.
- Communicates effectively with the educational community, parents, and supplemental agencies, as necessary.
- Follows rules, policies and procedures as specified.
- Coordinates or assists in coordinating other student programs, extra curricular activities and clubs.
- Works with and mentors teachers around classroom management strategies and discipline procedures.
- Supervises students in all areas of the building; including hallways, lunchrooms and other areas where needed.
- Assists Principal with attendance, absences, and professional development activities.
- Attends school functions, curricular, extra-curricular and athletic activities as often as possible or as requested by the principal.
- Communicates with administrators in the identification of any particular needs of the students.
- Gathers appropriate data to demonstrate accomplishments of the annual objectives and elements of the job description.
- Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Principal and Assistant Principal.
- Knowledge of foundations in Administration and Student Discipline, including theories/models/research and best practices in these areas.
- Knowledge and skills in evidence-based behavior management approaches.
- Knowledge and skills in differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge and skills in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating individual or small group behavior support plans (including intervention fidelity and outcomes).
- Knowledge and skills in collecting, analyzing, and maintaining student data, as well as the formulation of data-based action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students, including knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to assignment (e.g., Administration, Counseling, Education, Behavior Intervention, and/or Child Life Specialist
- Successful prior experience as an Administrator, Social Worker, or Teacher Leader preferred.
- Experience working with Middle School/High School students.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, school personnel, parents, and ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to motivate students and support their learning preferences and needs.
