JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARYAs a Deputy Sheriff duties will include, but are not limited to, vehicle patrol of the County of Lenawee to respond to and investigate criminal activity, vehicle accidents, traffic enforcement, respond to civil disturbances, provide a law enforcement presence to deter criminal activity and provide law enforcement service for special events at the County Fair and Michigan International Speedway.

Qualifications/Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Michigan Driver's license by date of hire.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must be MCOLES certified or certifiable as a police officer in the State of Michigan at the time of appointment.
Have no felony convictions. Misdemeanor convictions will be on a case by case basis to determine qualifying status. (Criminal Law generally includes all offenses except traffic laws, conservation laws and liquor law. In general, conviction for a violation of criminal law is automatically disqualifying.)

Hiring Process

Pass interview
Pass the EMPCO deputy or police officer written test found at https://www.empco.net/
Qualified selected candidates will be required to complete and return a background packet.
Candidates will then go through a complete background investigation.
Take a psychological examination.
Pass a physical examination.

Work Hours: Majority of positions are 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off as a Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
