The Information Technology Unit of the NYC Department of Investigation is looking for a Computer Associate Technical Support level 1 candidate who will be responsible for providing Desktop support for DOI's Clients and Executive Administration. The candidates will work specifically on Desktops in addition to mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, iPads and mobile phone, with Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows Servers; be responsible for software installation and support, building images, troubleshooting hardware and software OS or application problems, testing/deploying/maintaining Windows desktops and training clients to utilize the technology available to them; be able to work effectively with their superiors and with the clients; be able to adjust to future changes made to the infrastructure; clearly assess and implement methods for adopting technological solutions into their environment; install & configure new systems and related hardware and software, including DOI-specific solutions; perform basic networking; provide scanner, Multi-function-printers and printer support with the goal of keeping outages to a minimum; perform on-site technical support for all DOI clients; perform related duties.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in complex troubleshooting and repair activities using state-of-the-art test instruments and equipment.
- Ordering and maintaining an inventory of spare parts, all desktop hardware equipment and other items.
- Review and monitor ticket queues for regular reporting to Clients and Operations Management.
- Imaging PCs with the correct software for individual departments.
- Active Directory Administration.
- Adhere to Client Corporate policies, procedures and required training.
- Manage day to day activities associated with assigned tickets including change management, call monitoring, action planning, and reporting.
- Maintaining an asset database and inventory of all IT related equipment.
- Issue escalation / resolution.
- Internal organizational communication and updates.
- Interaction with relevant Project Manager on new projects involving IT.
- Participate in and prioritize the activities to minimize impact on business.
- Manage special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience, in mainframe computer, mid-range computer, LAN or WAN computer environments and or local desktop support; or"
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience, as described in "1" above; or
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. Undergraduate college credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits, from an accredited college or university, for six months of experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years of satisfactory full-time experience, as described in "1" above.
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described in "1" above; or

Preferred Skills
- Active Directory Administration.
- Ability to exercise discretion in all activities, high level of flexibility, reliability and dependability.
- Strong initiative, attention to detail, sense of urgency, work ethic and follow-through skills necessary.
- Effective communication, customer relations and interpersonal skills; experience working with all levels of the organization, and ability to interact with Mid-level and Senior Executives.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
- Some MAC, Network IP Camera, Audio Visual experience a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills; proficiency in analytic and quality assurance techniques.
- Leadership ability; and a willingness to take appropriate actions to resolve complex problems.
- Working knowledge of DNS, WINS, TCP/IP, DHCP, and Mobile Devices.
- SLA compliance for Desktop support tickets assigned.
- Excellent Customer relations and communication skills with the Organizational skills, relationship skills, assertive ability to get the task done, and great follow up and attention to detail.
- Ability to self-manage time and workload.
Additional Skills
- A+, MCDT Certifications are a plus.
- Expertise in working on MACs, Windows 10 OS including command-line functions and occasional registry editing.
- Experience with MS Office 2016/2019. Experience with Remote Desktop.
- Extensive knowledge of laptop and PC hardware and design; basic printer and network printing support desired.
- Hands-on experience with removing viruses and spyware using various tools valued.
- Experience with Web-based applications support is strongly preferred.
- Some knowledge of Active Directory and Exchange wanted. Ability to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends needed.
