Kemper has an immediate need for a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer.

This role works as part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and improving continuous integration and automated release processes and technologies across the development and testing environments for on-premise and public cloud environments. The results of these improvements set the stage for the next round of explosive growth at our company.

The focus will be on maintaining quality while supporting robust scalability to support the organization’s dynamic needs and robust growth. The engineer will also have process responsibility for enhancing the efficiency of development, testing, and product release processes. The DevOps Engineer will perform work assignments within a dynamic, fast-paced agile environment, developing, prioritizing and grooming appropriate user stories for these improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality and efficiency of the agile SDLC process tools
  • Maintain the processes that support and automate software product release automation
  • Design hybrid infrastructure which automatically: provisions build & test environments, builds software, executes engineered tests, stages for deployment, and provides real-time monitoring of results.
  • Provide automation configuration expertise to the Application Development team
  • Collect & report data on the health of build/test infrastructure
  • Implement systems which provide visibility into product team velocity
  • Propose and design systems to measure customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate collaboration through the deployment of systems
  • Continuously improve team collaboration through feedback and training
  • Maintain appropriate project documentation for each build or release

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, or equivalent and/or 4 years related work experience (development or infrastructure automation)
  • Understanding of the DevOps principles and patterns in an enterprise organization
  • Demonstrate understanding of source-code management processes (Git)
  • Significant programming experience in one of the following: Python, node.js, Go, Ruby, Java
  • Create code-defined infrastructure
  • Develop solutions with AWS services and DevOps tools
  • A solid understanding of public clouds (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Remote administration and automatic configuration of Windows, Linux, OS X
  • Experience building functions in AWS Lambda and tie them into bigger AWS-based architectures preferred
  • Jenkins build automation with multi-stage builds and dependencies experience preferred
  • Administration of code review systems preferred
  • This position is a remote role and can work from home in Florida.
